the brazilian way book cover

Vanessa Jackson is very good at behaving herself.

She has a husband she loves, a beautiful villa above a sun-warmed village in the South of France, and a life arranged with the sort of care that leaves very little room for surprises.

Then she meets Gail Bennett.

Gail is twenty-one, purple-haired, pierced, sharp-tongued, and working at her mother’s beauty salon while studying for a future somewhere beyond it. She is also far too observant for Vanessa’s peace of mind.

What should be a routine Brazilian wax becomes unexpectedly funny.

Then interesting.

So Vanessa books again.

And again.

Soon she is spending far too much time deciding what to wear to an appointment. Gail is enjoying Mrs. Jackson’s slipping composure rather more than professionalism really requires. Their conversations linger. Their silences linger longer.

Outside Grin and Bare It, Saint-Clair-sur-Mer carries on as usual: scooters climbing narrow streets, café tables in the sun, wine on the terrace, husbands coming home for dinner.

Inside, keeping things professional is becoming considerably harder.

Vanessa has spent years building a life she has no desire to lose.

Gail was never supposed to make her want something that does not fit inside it.

The Brazilian Way: By Appointment Only is a witty, sensual F/F erotic romance about temptation, curiosity, class, secrecy, marriage, and the inconvenient things desire refuses to keep tidy.

From the Author

The idea for The Brazilian Way started, appropriately enough, on a treatment table.

There is something wonderfully strange about a waxing appointment. You walk into a room with someone you may barely know, remove considerably more clothing than good manners usually permit, and then attempt to make perfectly normal conversation while they become very familiar with you.

I remember thinking how quickly embarrassment can start feeling like intimacy.

A joke lands differently. A glance lasts a little too long. You notice the person behind the professional smile. They notice things about you that most people never get close enough to see.

Naturally, my imagination misbehaved.

What if the client came back because she liked the beautician a little too much? What if the beautician noticed? And what if both women kept pretending the appointment was still the reason?

Add a sleepy village in the South of France, a married woman who is excellent at behaving herself, and a young beautician who rather enjoys watching that composure crack, and The Brazilian Way began to take shape.

I have always liked stories where desire arrives at the least convenient moment. Vanessa already has a life she values. Gail has plans of her own. Neither woman is waiting to be rescued.

They simply meet.

At a very intimate angle.

I hope you enjoy your appointment.
