I wanted Good Cock, Bad Cop to begin with all the obvious ingredients: a cop, a pair of handcuffs, a young man with too much attitude, and enough bad judgment to make the situation interesting.

What surprised me was how quickly the story became about everything that happens after the cuffs come off.

Sam shows affection by cooking too much food, printing forms, giving unwanted advice and worrying about bus schedules. Jerry responds by arguing with him about almost everything. Somewhere between the jokes, the rules and the attraction neither of them handles particularly well, Sam’s house starts becoming something neither man expected to find.
